The team in vogue explored the story behind Egypt’s Marmonil: having evolved from a small family business into the region’s largest vertically integrated, privately owned stone manufacturer.
Helmed by mother-daughter duo Christiane and Karen Abdalla, which is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year. Bringing together over 30 quarries, sister companies in Italy and the US and a 1,000-person strong workforce. “We’re really blessed that my grandparents left us such a wonderful reputation to uphold.” says Karen. “We love collaborating with artists.” adds Christiane. “We donate blocks to artists and implement their visions.” Marmonil has worked with names like Adam Henein, Stephen Cox, Jwan Yosef, and one of the projects closest to their hearts is the Grand Egyptian Museum.
